About Me2.png

I believe healing begins when people feel truly seen, heard, and accepted. My goal is to create a warm, compassionate space where clients can show up as they are, without fear of judgment. I value authenticity, curiosity, and the idea that even small steps can create meaningful and lasting change.

My Story

Hello! I’m Val, and I’m currently completing my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling on my journey to becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor. My passion for counseling comes from a genuine curiosity about people and a belief that every person’s story deserves to be heard with compassion. I believe healing begins within the safety of a trusting therapeutic relationship, and my goal is to create a space where clients feel comfortable showing up exactly as they are—knowing they will be met with empathy, respect, and authenticity.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology from Our Lady of the Lake University, which led me to work with children with autism for the past three years. I have a particular interest in working with older adolescents, young adults, and adults navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, self-esteem concerns, identity exploration, and the unique experiences of neurodivergent individuals. I am also passionate about providing an affirming and supportive space for members of the LGBTQ+ community.

I believe counseling is not one-size-fits-all. My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and person-centered, with an emphasis on meeting clients where they are. As I continue my clinical training, I am expanding my knowledge of evidence-based approaches, including DBT and somatic therapies, so that care can be flexible and tailored to each client’s needs and goals. I also value helping clients understand how the brain, body, and life experiences can work together to influence emotions, behavior, and healing
