Asking for help can feel scary, awkward, and a little like your brain is yelling, “Let’s not and say we did.” But taking that first step — even when you’re anxious, overwhelmed, burned out, or unsure where to start — is brave.
Therapy with me is collaborative, warm, honest, and deeply human. You don’t have to pretend you have it all together here. You can bring the “I’m fine” energy that is very clearly not fine, and we’ll sort through it together. Healing is messy, nonlinear, and wildly inconvenient sometimes, but it is possible.
My Story
Hi, I’m Margaret Helen — but most people call me Maggie. I was born and raised in Laredo, Texas, and earned my degree in Criminal Justice from Laredo College before completing my Master’s Degree in Psychology at Our Lady of the Lake University. My background includes community mental health, crisis services, trauma work, foster care, juvenile probation, and school-based counseling, supporting both English- and Spanish-speaking clients.

I work with anxious overthinkers, burned-out people pleasers, helping professionals, couples, and people who are tired of carrying everything alone. Many of my clients are self-aware but still stuck in the same cycles, trying to heal while managing work, relationships, expectations, and the general chaos of being human.
I’m also a Texas state-approved supervisor and AAMFT-approved supervisor, and I’m passionate about supporting newer clinicians as they grow into confident, authentic therapists.
Outside of therapy, I love Harry Potter, Star Wars, gaming, and stories that remind us healing is possible and even the bravest heroes need support sometimes. Whether you relate more to the anxious side character, the reluctant chosen one, or the emotionally exhausted healer keeping everyone else alive in the party — you are welcome here.

My therapy style is eclectic, trauma-informed, and tailored to you — because you are not a worksheet with legs. I draw from CBT, narrative therapy, mindfulness, attachment-based work, and collaborative approaches to help clients better understand themselves, improve relationships, and build healthier patterns that actually feel sustainable in real life.
