Macie is our therapy dog in training and resident professional greeter. She mainly works alongside Maggie, but clients may request to have Macie join their session when appropriate and available.
My Story
Macie is just over 1 year old and was adopted through Animal Care Services here in San Antonio on April 11, 2026. Since joining the ABC family, she has taken her new role very seriously — especially the part where she gets to meet people. Macie loves humans and feels strongly that everyone deserves a warm welcome, preferably from her.

Because Macie is still young and still learning, we like to emphasize the “in training” part. She is practicing her therapy dog manners, calm-session skills, and the very challenging life lesson that not every greeting needs to be a full-body celebration. Growth is a journey, even for therapy dogs.
Macie loves people, kids, warm spots, and naps that look suspiciously like a full-time job. She has a sweet, affectionate personality and can bring comfort, softness, and a little extra joy into the therapy room. She is especially great with children and can help therapy feel a little less intimidating and a lot more welcoming.
She may be small-ish, snuggly, and still learning, but Macie is already very good at reminding people that healing can include warmth, softness, connection, and sometimes a very enthusiastic hello.

Because Macie is still in training, her participation in sessions depends on client comfort, clinical appropriateness, and whether she is having a “ready to work” kind of day or a “must nap immediately in the softest place available” kind of day.
