Lauren Renberg, Student Intern
Hi, I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern who believes therapy should feel supportive, collaborative, and grounded in genuine connection. I enjoy working with children, adults, and individuals navigating stress, emotional challenges, and major life transitions, with a special interest in supporting healthcare workers, older adults, and women as they care for themselves alongside others.

My Story
As a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern currently completing my Master’s degree at Texas A&M University–San Antonio, I am passionate about providing compassionate, client-centered care to individuals across the lifespan. I believe therapy works best when clients feel heard, respected, and supported, and I strive to create a space where people can show up authentically and at their own pace.
I have experience working with children ages 3–9 diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, where I supported behavioral, social, and interpersonal development using evidence-based, play-informed interventions. In this role, I focused on helping children build communication skills, emotional awareness, and positive interactions, while also collaborating with caregivers to support consistency and growth across environments.
I also completed an internship at Enlightened Behavioral Health, where I worked with adults experiencing Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorders, and Schizophrenia. This experience strengthened my skills in assessment, crisis intervention, and therapeutic relationship-building, and deepened my understanding of the complex needs of individuals managing severe and persistent mental health concerns.
In addition to this work, I especially enjoy supporting healthcare workers, older adults, and women—populations who often carry significant emotional, physical, and societal responsibilities. I am mindful of the stress, burnout, and identity challenges that can accompany caregiving and helping roles, and I aim to provide a therapeutic space where clients feel understood, validated, and supported.
My approach to therapy is collaborative and affirming, with a focus on helping clients build resilience, explore their personal stories, and move toward meaningful growth and healing in a way that feels empowering and sustainable.
