Student Intern
Kya Wormley
Everyone deserves a sanctuary—a soft place to land and a safe space to grow—where healing, purpose, and power come to life. Come exactly as you are; you don’t need your “best” self here. Your real self is more than enough. Together, we’ll create space for empowerment, self-discovery, and genuine connection—something that awakens you even better than your morning coffee.
"You owe it to yourself to live beautifully." ~ Jill Scott

My Story
Hi, I’m Kya Wormley – a student intern here at ABC Counseling Inc., pursuing my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at St. Mary’s University. I’m on the path to becoming a licensed professional counselor, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside you as you grow, heal, and live with greater purpose and authenticity.
My counseling approach blends existential therapy and solution-focused therapy. I believe deeply in the power of choice and in living a life that feels true to you—while also reducing the frustration of feeling “stuck” without solutions. In our work together, we’ll explore the values, goals, and relationships that matter most to you, making space to release what no longer serves you and step into experiences that align with who you are.
I’m passionate about working with adolescents, adults, couples, and members of the BIPOC community, focusing on self-esteem, identity development, relational dynamics, spirituality, and mindfulness. My goal is to help you build confidence, connect meaningfully with yourself and others, and feel empowered to live with intention.
As a Black woman and a military child, I understand the complexities of navigating multiple identities and life transitions. These personal experiences—along with my background in ABA therapy supporting children and families on the autism spectrum—have shaped my empathy, curiosity, and commitment to advocacy and inclusivity.
Before starting graduate school, I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Spelman College. I then worked in mental health research and advocacy, which strengthened my passion for supporting others in their mental health journeys. Now, I’m dedicated to creating a safe, collaborative space where you feel truly seen, heard, and supported.
Outside of work, you’ll often find me doing something creative—painting, drawing, crafting, dancing, roller-skating, singing, or curled up with a good psychological thriller. I believe creativity and movement can be powerful tools for connection and self-awareness, and I love incorporating them into therapy when it supports your growth.
As your therapist, I will meet you exactly where you are—without judgment—and I am honored to be part of your journey.
