Therapist

Katherine Newman, LPC-A

My passion is to help clients embrace who they are, and feel empowered to face the world with confidence and self-acceptance. Sometimes you may feel like there is a weight on your chest, a rain cloud chasing you down, or that there is nowhere left to turn. My goal is to create a supportive space for you or your child to lift that weight off your chest and find ways to continue moving forward.

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” -Carl Rogers.

My Story

Hi! I’m Katherine, or Kat, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in Texas. I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, Autism, low self-esteem, emotional regulation difficulties, and generally navigating life’s challenges. I use person-centered counseling and child-centered play therapy techniques to create a safe space for clients of all ages to express themselves freely.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Science and my master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Texas. After graduating, I moved to San Antonio and have been gaining experience working with children, adolescents, and adults since October 2024, empowering and supporting clients on their mental health journeys.

Reaching out for counseling can feel intimidating, but I am on your side to help guide you through difficult times. I strive to create a supportive, understanding space where you feel heard, respected, and comfortable beginning the process of growth and healing.
