About

Andrew Horman

“There are no barriers, only speed bumps” is a quote I came up with and live by. I believe there’s always a road to your goals—it just might take some navigating. Sometimes, those speed bumps can feel overwhelming, and that’s where I come in. I see myself as your guide, helping you find the smoothest path over the bump or an alternate route around it. Together, we’ll keep moving forward.

My Story

Hi, I’m Andrew—welcome! I’m a graduate student at Our Lady of the Lake University, working toward my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. But this isn’t where my journey began. Helping others has always been part of who I am, starting with roles in security and as a police explorer. My path then took me into the tech world, where I earned an associate’s degree in Micro-Computer Networking from the International Institute of the Americas in Arizona and worked in the computer field.

Psychology has always been a passion of mine, which led me to earn my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Ashford University. My final push into the mental health field came after a near-death experience that profoundly shaped my perspective on the importance of mental health and the critical need for support in this area. Coupled with my experiences with friends and family in the military, collaborating with first responders, and navigating life with a disability, I was inspired to pursue my master’s degree.

I’ve had the privilege of interning at The Center for Healthcare Services Recovery Program, working with individuals managing both mental health and addiction challenges. I take a collaborative approach, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Strengths-Based perspectives to help guide you through life’s speed bumps. I’m here to support you as you navigate your journey and discover your inner strengths. Let’s work together to move forward!
